This BIRDsession kicks off with a sizzling set of funk and soul classics, with groove at the heart of it all. And who better to carry that groove than bassist Jens Dreijer, a musician who seems to have funk running through his veins. Jens had to miss the earlier part of Thijmen Molema’s residency due to an injury, but now he’s back and better than ever.

The session will be led by vocalist and keyboardist Daniel von Piekartz, known for his unique voice and musical depth. For this special night, Thijmen put together a brand-new band with a striking setup: two keyboardists! Alongside Daniel, Stan de Kwaadsteniet joins on keys, adding an extra layer of richness to the sound. And traveling in from Antwerp, Nuri Bedja will bring an extra dimension on saxophone. A perfect touch to this musical tribute to the bassist.

All five musicians have shared the stage in various formations before, but this will be the very first time they perform together in this line-up. Expect a night full of groove, soulful solos, and spontaneous musical fireworks.
